- The US services have the following requirements over the next several decades:

- fleet logistic support)

- Also, Bell/Boeing hope to sell 300 - 500 aircraft to international customers and
- develop special variants for another market potential of 330 - 630 Ospreys
- The development of the V-22 Osprey began in the 80s. After near cancellation and
- total restructuring, the programme is now in an EMD phase lasting until 1999.
- Four new production representative prototypes have been built and will enter flight
- test during the first half of 1997. Deliveries of series aircraft due to start
- in mid-1999 for an IOC in 2001.
